The class-action lawsuit, filed in 2017, alleged that Murphy USA and Murphy Express store improperly charged sales tax on the Murphy-funded portion of the discount on sale items in 24 states in USA starting on January 8, 2016.
Class members who purchased products at Murphy stores (excluding stores in Missouri and Texas) and were charged and paid sales tax on the full, undiscounted price of products purchased with a discount funded all or in part by Murphy from January 8, 2016 to August 16, 2019.
